Noticed this Great Tit on the feeders today and was wondering if someone can tell me what this red growth above it,s beak is.

Could it be a tick or some other parasite ...just a bit worried it may pass on to the other birds using the feeders
I hope someone can help me ....Thanks

Ooh that looks quite nasty. I think it looks like an abscess caused by an injury. The red part appears to be the birds own skin, very inflamed poor bird.
I'd wait for other opinions tho I'm no vet lol :))

Lol Lw :)
I wondered if it might be from scrapping with another bird over territory,I shouldn't think its flown into a random twig :))
