I have always been interested in photography but only seemed to find the time on holiday.I have also had an interest in birds in my own garden. Over the years on holiday I have mainly used a wide angle lens for scenery but last year I found myself on the island of Lesvos in early May. I was staying in a hotel at Skala Kalloni and found that almost everyone else in the hotel was a twitcher and the conversation every morning was on the birds spotted the previous day. I became interested and swapped the wide angle for the long lens and although my lens was tiny compared to some owned by others in the hotel I had some success and have been learning ever since.
I was using a Nikon D40 with a 70-300mm lens at that time but have since added a Nikon D5000 body and Sigma 150-500mm lens then swapped the D40 for a D5100.
