As I was washing up today I spotted this bird on the fence near my kitchen window , I was able to get a really good look at this gorgeous little bird it is the first time I have seen them. I get Greenfinches and just once a Bullfinch in my garden but never a Goldfinch ,needless to say the dishes got left and I am going to refill my feeders. I do not have a camera so cant get a photo.

Word soon gets round Mavis. They are gregarious little birds that often feed in small flocks we started with a pair of visitors a couple of years ago and one feeder.

We can have up to 20 visit at a time on 3 feeders , esp during bad weather they fed almost non stop through those heavy snow falls we had.Hardy little souls .

One magic winter day a "Charm" of golfinches - about a dozen, passed through my garden and paused just long enough to be admired. They are gorgous - you're lucky.
By the way - I love your profile picture. Your cat looks distinctly brassed off at being used on a bird site!
