A Trip to Arne

Yesterday was still unseasonably hot and it was a pleasure to go to the coast where a gentle breeze made life pleasant – once the sun was properly up. It went from 10 deg C at 08h00 to 25 deg C by noon. I decided that the woodland was the place to be. It was on my way there shortly after 08h00 that I photographed the Chaffinch posted on the Birding Pictures part of this site.
Then to the woods.

At the edge of the woodland, Sika were grazing in a meadow.

There was a wonderful display of fungi.

“Sun’s a bit bright here.”

If in doubt, groom!

“Come on, Mum.” The Sika, although wild, have quite a tolerance of humans in the reserve, but I’m pleased to report that the youngsters retain a healthy wariness. They’ll adjust in time.

This Sika stag and I had been moving in parallel through the woodland for quite some time and I was photographing him as we went. I think this image somehow illustrates his character best of all.

By lunchtime the woods began to fill with picnickers, but I got this image of a Dragonfly before I left for home.
