Missing Blackbirds

By

Can someone please explain, last week my garden was awash with Blackbirds… male, female and their young, including my 2 blackbirds Ive had since they were very young, I’ve not had one Blackbird in my garden for over a week, this happened last breeding season, where do they go, last time my 2 friendly blackbirds returned after about 3 weeks

Hi Bill, they are probably finding their own territory as they will be competing for food etc. Your friendly ones may well return.
When we had lots of blackbirds a few years ago, the adults attacked the young of other pairs, just too many in close proximity.

Thank you, my friendly Blackbirds did return last time, 2 males, it seems so empty, when one minute your over-run, get up one morning and there are none in sight, so strange,

Hopefully they will sort it out themselves. In our case magpies moved in-problem solved :(

I don't know if its a bit early but I know that after the breeding season is over the birds go into moult and are not around much...so hopefully will be back with shiny new feathers.

Hi Bill,My gardens as been the same usually they have 2 broods so when they leave the nest parents feed them in the garden & chase them off to find own territories so they can raise the next brood.

I think they could all be in my garden in Essex Bill....I'm inundated with Blackbirds at the moment, hence the photos I've been posting. Great birds to watch.
