A Sad End.

It is with a sad heart I have to tell you that I woke to the sound of a crow and a magpie squabbling on the end of the drive. I went to my study and checked on the doves but unfortunately, the nest is no more.

On the pavement is the broken shell and remains of a baby bird, which the magpie and crow were fighting over. Mrs. Dove kept fluttering up to the remains of the nest and looking but now has gone.

Good bye Dove family :0(

Sad news indeed,we too have had magpies going through nests in our area. They now have two fledgelings of their own and so it goes on.
The only hope is that your doves were first timers and may learn from this.

All over, far too soon. :( Many Thanks for this sad update. Unfortunately, the nest was not safe from airborne predators. Sorry to read that your marvellous view was so shortlived.
