Star Tern....

Not very sharp as you know me and action shots….but I was pleased when I saw that it actually had a fish in its beak…..

The second shot is fine LW (it's caught more fish than me lately)

thanks Alan.....didn't realise it was fishing when I saw it...so pleased when I saw the photo
Thanks Donna.....used picnik to sharpen up a bit and it helps the image....
The problem I have when out and about is still not knowing the camera properly and changing settings for the subject...but getting there slowly

#2 looks good to me LW - difused background, detail in wings and a fish in beak; not much more needed.

I think they're superb, particularly the second one. Stop being so self-critical. You are very very good at this and your pictures are superb. If you are enjoying yourself (which you clearly are) anything else is a bonus.

Definitely on the right track with image 2,try continuous shooting when after action shots, preferably on shutter priority. You can confine adjustments during the shoot to the thumb wheel to adjust for lighting conditions.A fairly high iso [400-800] also helps.Don't forget to enjoy yourself as well!

Agree that image 2 is good LW and Phils advice sounds remarkably similar to something someone suggested a while back .. to be honest dont know why you persist with the technical stuff cos just like the bird most of it seems to fly straight over your head ! : )
