Cheltenham garden

Have been watching a blackbird dad feeding his fledgling chick for the past few days. He’s now stopped feeding baby but is showing him how to feed himself… where’s mum I wonder. Emancipation is great!!

Hi Pompidou..Welcome to Ispyabird. We too have had the pleasure of watching the blackbirds and their fledglings starting to grow up. Agree...its a wonderful sight and we can learn so much by observing them.
Littlewren...bet you are looking forward to that ! :o))

Baby blackbird is still begging for food but Dad's ignoring the demands. I think we've got a baby dove with parents in the garden. Saw dove on her/his nest the other day...never seen a dove nest before, not impressed with building skills..

Not great nests are they...just a few bits and pieces of twigs thrown together ! Those fledgling blackbirds are quick learners so shouldnt be long before it goes its own way !

Well baby blackbird has attitude. Feeds himself and chases away all the other birds including fat pigeon.
