Success Story!!

I posted a few months ago, about a swan down at my lakes, who last year, through mindless idiots had a barren year for chicks.
I have been keeping an eye on her this year,to make sure ,as much as possible, that she was left alone.
I visited last night at about 7.30pm,she was still sitting on her nest,no sign of life.
I called down today, this afternoon,at about 4.45pm,to find an empty nest.
I,at first panicked, what had happened to her.Looked across the lake, still no sign.I was worried,so I hurriedly followed the lake down to the bridge, where it narrows into a stream. Still no sign.
I followed the neck of the stream to a little side, covered over in reeds……..to my surprise this was the site that greeted me………………………………………..

I cannot tell you how relieved and happy I was to see mom,dad & 6 cygnets, less than a day old,all together looking content & gorgeous.
I will be going down regular,to make sure they are ok,and hopefully, grow up to be beautiful swans….

Just got back from walking buster.I got the feeling that the ducks & geese were laughing at us! we were drenched! They were looking as if to say"now you know what its like! lol.But as you say,it was pleasing to see the lake water levels up to normal again,it is needed.
