Martin Mere

Had another great day at MM with Mike. Got a couple of photos for here instead of the bird pictures… I had never seen an orange tip butterfly until the other day when Eric put one on, I saw a few yesterday, the orange flower I have no idea what it is, just growing wild, then there is the white butterfly and a Magpie Goose. I hope you enjoy them

It was indeed a really nice day - spoilt a little as "Muddy" could not make it (and we had to buy our own coffees) but like Alan I had never seen a yellow tip either. Unfortunately I was only using my 50-500 lens but I tried a few shots of the butterflies too - later for those.
Good set of memories buddy.

Hi Alan just asked my wife about the orange flower and she says it is a Pot Marigold.Fabulous Orange tips, what about the green marbling on the underwing!

Very nice blog Alan (sorry I couldn't make it for coffee!) and great photos too.
The flower is Orange Hawkbit (Hieracium aurantiacum/Pilosella aurantiacum), also known as Fox and cubs.

Sorry Alan just told my wife and she thought it was a larger flower head and says her late mother use to grow them.
