Just a silly ditty

By

Spring is sprung
The grass is riz
I wonder where the birdies is
The birdies on the wing
That’s absurd
The wing is on the bird

I haven’t a clue where I got this from

Thanks for the memory Casso, I haven't heard this since my late Father-in-law used to recite it to my baby son (now 29!). Just Googled it and found :-

In Arnold Silcock's Verse and Worse, it is attributed to ANON [New York], and goes thus:

The Budding Bronx

Der spring is sprung
Der grass is riz
I wonder where dem boidies is?

Der little boids is on der wing,
Ain't dat absoid?
Der little wings is on de boid!

Ah, the late, great Bluesman McKinley Morganfield (April 4, 1913 – April 30, 1983), known as Muddy Waters - no, no relation :-)
