Will be doing so on Sunday, probably late afternoon, when most birds visit my garden to feed before nightfall.

We get most of our visitors in mid-morning; you can almost set your watch by the pheasant at 10:45!

Big garden birdwatch done between 8.30 and 9.30 this morning, grey, cloudy and very cold but the following came in to feed:

2 Robins on the table together
1 Blackbird
2 Collared Doves (named Flick and Flack!)
1 Woodpigeon
2 Blue Tits .. one hung on to the side of the bird box and pecked around the entrance hole for a while .. this has happened for the past week .. fingers crossed they choose 'our' box!
2 Seagulls and 1 Blackheaded Gull .. they're just 'chancers' for anything left on the grass.

No sign of the Wren we see almost daily, or the Long-tailed Tit.

It will be interesting to hear of other members sightings in their gardens.

I decided to watch this morning, what a disaster, all sparrows and starlings. then a ginger tom cat strolled across the garden, to top it all the sparrow hawk paid us a call. But i'm over the moon and so happy tonight, i've just put the tv on and there cuddled up in a corner of the nest box is a blue tit roosting for the first time this year.

We also had a pretty good count of the more common birds counted between 11 & 12 o'clock in a village garden near Forres, Moray.
8 goldfinch
16 Chaffinch
8 Siskin
3 Greenfinch
1 Gouse sparrow
2 Dunnock
2 Robin
13 Starling
1 Blue Tit
2 Blackbird
1 Carrion Crow
2 Woodpigeon
1 Pheasant
Nothing rare today, unfortunately, but I suppose that this is a pretty good representation of our resident population.

great list there bulbaholic.....as you say nice to have a good list of regulars....gives a better count....years ago never saw a goldfinch now they outnumber most of the others......my brother-in-law lives in a terraced house, in quite a built up area, with the tiniest front garden but has a huge amount of goldfinch visit....they line up on the wires....36 at one count,

The Goldfinch story is quite remarkable. As you say, not too many years it was - OMG, a goldfinch! Now they seem to be more common than sparrows.
