When will i ever learn?????

It has been bitterly cold today and windy witn it, and it was one of my days to walk my neighbour’s dog Jesse. I wrap myself up and run out of reasons of ‘why I cannot put this off any more’. I think about taking my camera and decide against it as it is cumbersome and jesse is a large dog and I have many things stuffed in all my pockets, so I pick up my little olypmus and tuck him in my pocket, I do not use him much at the moment as he is good on close ups but not much else.
Ho hum off I go not many people or dogs about, I try to take some shots of the gulls on the field but I know there are too far away.
Through to the woods, I see some flashes of black and white but they are small, I wait but no luck. I know I say to jesse, let’s walk up the lane we have not done that in a while, I see gulls, pigeons, rooks and WOW there are two egyptian geese in the field in front of me, I call Jesse so that she does not frighten them off, click click click, the flash keeps going off due to the low light levels and finallyI inch close enough to get a good shot, click and right then and there the camera turns itself off, the battery needed charging.
I can imagine what you are saying, I am a fool and I never learn, in my defence I am getting on a bit!!.

I drove 80 miles to Rutland this morning, carried camera kit to a hide, set up and remembered the battery was in the car keeping warm. Not too big a problem as car wasn't far away but still felt a bit silly.

I have an Olympus and know exactly what you mean, they are brilliant little cameras though and very handy just to stuff in your pocket, you have taken some very good shots....
Had a new camera delivered yesterday "Canon PowerShot SX30 IS" so my little Olympus might get the heaveho, after lots of practise with new one,lol......

I've been admiring your pics of the Egyptian geese. Now, I'm wondering, did the Ancient Egyptians wear black make-up round their eyes to copy this goose, which was sacred to them????

Thanks folks for your comments and encouragement, I will still keep my little olympus with me, as I am very fond of it, it is battle worn though, maybe I should give it a medal?
