photo equipment (2)

By

Hi all,

I’ve just bought a useful bit of kit today in Aldi. It’s a flexible tripod, similar to the “Gorillapod”. For me, it has the advantage of NOT having a ball & socket head, so there is no danger of the camera tipping forward, if it’s a bit on the heavy side.
You can easily attatch this to gates, branches etc. allowing you to get steady, clear shots, particularly by bad light.

It comes with detatchable, quick-release base plate, plus a 3/8" adaptor for heavier equipment, binoculars etc. According to the manufacturer, it will take equipment weighing up to 3kg. The standard Gorillapod (I think) only holds around 800g, so this has a real advantage, pricewise. It costs only £8.99

The tripod has been on offer since the 9th December, so if you’re interested and have an Aldi near you, don’t waste any time. If you want to see what it looks like, check this link.

Hi sticky-t,

I have tried it out with my FZ38, no problems. The manufacturer says it will hold upto 6kg (6.6 lbs). the advertisement for the Gorillapod Zoom says upto 6 lbs, the difference being it costs around £30.
Hope this is helpful.

Ken

PS Aldi usually have a no quibble 3 year guarantee, too.
