MacArthur Park!

Today hereabouts it looks very much like the cake in the above mentioned song. All the beautiful white icing covering the trees, fences, flowers, hedges, gardens, car and house roofs, fields, roads, paths, the Fells and the Mountains has melted and is flowing down. The picture book fairyland landscape is fading minute by minute. It took so long to make it and we hope we shall not see that recipe of layer after layer of snow and frost again for quite a while.

Early this morning I had heard the warnings on the local radio station advising people to take the greatest care due to the terribly slippery roads and pavements and later I watched our lady ‘Postie’, precariously making her way down the slope of our cul de sac towards the road that runs across the end and has an even steeper slope leading into the town! How thankful I was that we didn’t have to go out today. Who would be the supporting one? Not I, and Roy would have enough to do keeping himself on his feet.

No, today is an indoor one with plenty of choice to help the time pass. A bit of bird spotting, a sweep across the town rooftops with the binoculars to check on the local feral and wood pigeons, starlings, jackdaws, collared doves,
seagulls, rooks and crows, then over the neighbouring gardens for blackbirds, robins, sparrows, thrushes, blue-tits, great-tits and maybe the sparrow hawk. Not a very exotic population but we love them and occasionally there is a new sighting of some ducks or a skein of geese so I keep looking.

Not a day for taking photos but things may improve……

I have my computer, printer, sewing machine, photo albums, books, ironing, mending, embroidery, writing (poems, stories, letters) greeting cards to make, chatting on phone, Television to watch, music to play plus cupboards and drawers to tidy,

Busy, busy, busy! And that doesn’t include all the interruptions. Phones calls asking me to take part in National Surveys, offering help with paying debts etc., Congratulations! You’ve won a holiday, reminders of appointments, (Doctor, Dental),and other nuisance ones.

Plus friends, relatives, mobile or land line- however, I mustn’t complain about that.

Then there is Roy needing help with something on his computer or in the house and again I mustn’t complain about that!

Half the day has already gone without me accomplishing very much but I don’t care – I’m alive and in a nice, comfortable warm house with food and company.

Ah! I feel another song coming on……….. Can you guess what it is?

Nope! No one has guessed my song!
It was wait for it....................

**It's a hap-hap-happy day
Toodle-oodle-oodle-oodle-oodle-lay
For you and me, for us and we
All the clouds have rolled away
It's a hap-hap-happy day
Toodle-oodle-oodle-oodle-oodle-lay
The sun shines bright and the world's so right
It's a hap-hap-happy day
Four and twenty sunbeams
Are dancing round my face
Four score and twenty more
Are dancing every place
It's a hap-hap-happy day
Toodle-oodle-oodle-oodle-oodle-lay
You can't go wrong if you sing this song
It's a hap-hap-happy day**

YOU HAVE NO IDEA OF THE TROUBLE I'VE HAD FINDING THIS! - I didn't remember all the words.
Anyway,I got it in the end and ir you don't know the tune there is a link to various videos and artists or cartoons via Google just put up "It's a hap hap Happy day lyrics' in search and trawl down. My favourite is "Guy Lombard mix" with lots of old fashioned pictures.
