plenty hungry visitors today

During the summer the thrush and blackbird rarely visit to feed though love to bathe in the stream. But as soon as the weather is bad in they come.I have also had my first visit by the fieldfare. Not too clear a pic as not only is it through the window but doesnt show up to well against the sky

Amazing where they all come from isnt it..weather here atrocious too .Had redwings and fieldfares which were eating windfalls we had to dig out from under a blanket of snow! Good to see them all tucking in...your photos are lovely Littlewren.

Definitely a fieldfare ....BB has a photo of the two together and fieldfare the larger of the two. Noticed you also have yellowhammers in your garden..often seen feeding with tree sparrows.Rare garden visitors..things must be really tough out there Littlewren.......good for you helping keep them going..

we regularly get the yellowhammers.I have had some lovely visitors and never ever get fed up watching them Jane.Just as well as we rarely go out and most of our time is spent in garden or watching the birds.

Lovely to see yellowhammers in a group like this esp in a garden .. what a treat.Water is a wonderful feature for so many forms of wildlife never ceases to amaze me how happy to bathe in it whatever the weather .

Thanks bonkersbon for all your lovely comments. As the stream is right outside the window we sit for hours watching the antics.Have some great snaps of bathers.

I am pleased we have stocked up with bird food jane........have to make sure they get their breakfast lunch and supper, I have noticed the last to feed are the blackbird and the robin....even when it's nearly dark

Same here..blackbirds first down in the morning...black shadows in the snow.Tonight there were 8 still eating apple rings at dusk...and the robin took the last mealworms from the table shortly after !! That was at 4.15...they have to last until 7.30 next morning...thats over 15 hours until they next eat.Prepared some boiled potatoes for tomorrow...and mixed with lard and porridge in a large dish for the flock of starlings and blackbirds. Stocked up with seed mix yesterday when we had a slight thaw and could get the van out. Oh..and called at the supermarket for our own food too !!

thats fabulous, seeing all those lovely birds, none here at the moment, we have had the builders in so maybe that has put them off although i did see the jay very briefly on saturday morning ~ sadly not long enough to get a picture.

thanks for your comments stickitoffee....I think if I didn't have my garden and birds I would be so unhappy. They keep me cheerful and give me something to look forward to.Doesn't that sound awful as if I don't have a lovely family. But I am sure many of you will know what I mean
