devil birds

Jane and David ,I also have a large rookery next to our house.there is a new offshoot further up the woods where new incomers have started a rookery. every night around five we get a re-enactment of the battle of britain .Very large flocks of gulls which were feeding further inland during the day make a detour as they are heading to the coast for the night.they deliberately fly over the rookery and all hell is let loose .the noise is terrific .I actually think both side enjoy this dog fight .thankfully there are no casualties.

LOL...now that I would love to see and hear Mac !! The rookery next door to us in the ancient churchyard has 3 sections...nests in 3 huge sycamore trees...set in a large triangle ! Have to laugh as every so often the residents of one tree will head into another...causing raucous chaos and much flapping of wings ! Think it is some sort of game...as,like yours there are never any casualties ! Love it !!

This would be fun to watch, methinks! I have visons, now, of supporters of one sporting team deliberately taunting the supporters of another, with one side sporting black, and the other white! Wish we could post "sound". :-)))

Yes given a harsh reputation they dont deserve .. never observed them being a threat to smaller birds in fact some choose to nest in same trees as them.

Lol David confusing for those wearing black AND white mind with Rooks being in a Parliament perhaps they ve joined a coalition ?

LOL!!! Let's name the rooks the "All Blacks", then. Those wearing black and white can be the "allsorts", and everyone else is a pure "coaltit-ion"!.

Usually nothing in our case David ..my grandfather rented his set and used to have to put sixpence in a meter on the back of it.He kept a few in a dish and I dropped one in as a child with nothing on TV other than test card OMG ..he never forgot this and often repeated this story years later.Knowing my grandfather he was probably trying to convince me I d cost him a weeks wages !

So often and for so long .. did he tell it that once I reminded him you only get 25 years for murder ! ( Stone the crows .. or a murder of them ? loose link I know Mac sorry to digress ..lol )
