Hare today, gone tomorrow!

WWT Martin Mere 30/04/12

My previous encounters with a Brown Hare have been very brief, with the animal making a speedy exit into the distance and out of sight. This time was different.
We watched him amble up along the field edge directly towards the hide, I followed him in my sights as he came closer and closer, my finger twitching on the shutter release . . not yet, not yet . . come closer . . closer . .
Then he stopped . . sat . . and stared at us . .
.
.

He sat there for for some moments . . .
.

Watching us, watching him . . .
.

I fired off a few shots . . .
.

Then he turned and was off, back from whence he came. I won’t forget those few, brief moments though.
