Came near enough after 3 hours.

Got this photo on the strid near Bolton Abbey. It had been flying about for 3 hours on & off,but it settled on the rock not 10ft away & the rest is history or captured for posterity.

Wonderful. The clarity of the second image is truly great. I've only ever seen one at a distance.

I agree with Mark, Eddy. Great little bird. It's frustrating to catch them when the nictitating membrane is over the eye which happens more often than not when I've managed to snatch a shot and it makes them look quite spooky.

Fantastic pics of one of my favourite birds, Ed. Have been following them up and down the river in my local park since last summer, but still to get a decent shot. :-)
